One of the problems John Crozier and I have been wrestling with over the last couple of years is how to get a good internet connection while on holiday, so we can keep in touch with the business.
Also, because I spend much of my time away from work in France, the cost of my data usage has been escalating in the last year or two.
Well I’m delighted to say it looks like we’ve solved these problems with an unlocked 3G dongle made by Huawei. It’s currently available from Amazon for about £75.
So why do I like it so much?
Well, because it’s unlocked, I can use it on any network by buying a pay-as-you-go data SIM from the network that gives me the best signal and the best prices for data. And since I don’t have to sign up for any long term contracts or pay a monthly contract fee, I can switch around whenever it suits me.
The big bonus for me is that I can buy data usage in France at national rates rather than UK roaming rates. The price difference is huge.
Another great benefit is that the Huawei dongle also acts as a wireless router. So I can put it wherever it gets the best signal, and I can use my laptop where it’s most comfortable. And, you can connect up to four devices to it at one time, so your family can use it as well.
I can really recommend it.
