This Saturday, 24 September 2017, Firstline IT Operations Director John Crozier and his family will be joining in the Oxford Memory Walk to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
John writes movingly about the disease:
‘With three children of our own all growing up it is painful to see and experience my mother-in-law deteriorate and become more child-like every day: she has lost the ability to cook, clean, make any form of arrangement, take medication properly and even string a sentence together … and therefore becomes more like a dependent child every day that passes, whilst at the same time having some realisation that it is all happening but yet has no idea why or what to do about it.
‘Hopefully any contribution we can make will help the Alzheimer’s Society continue their efforts to provide help and support to those who need it. This extends to the families that are close to it themselves like we are, but also to those who don’t have close family support or in worse cases have nobody to turn to at all.’
You can read John’s Just Giving page to learn more about the problems of living with relatives with dementia, and make a donation.
